Mountainbiking

In 2003, the network of biking trails was completely mapped and put together into a handy guidebook. The 860 km mountain bike tours range from easy cycle paths to the steepest pack trails, with something to suit every level of biker. More than 600 signposts clearly mark each route and guarantee total biking pleasure. This new initiative is designed to strengthen Montafon’s position as a top region in the world of mountain biking. And rightly so, because the mighty peaks of the Valley contain all the biking potential of Lakes Garda and Como combined. This positioning is supported by top Mountain Biking events, such as the MONTAFON Silvretta Man (Woman) Competition (Austrian Championship event).

Of course, mountain bikes are available for hire in Montafon and regular guided tours are organised (for example the bike safari into Paznauntal). Guided tours with a professional guide can be organised on request and regular events and competitions are proof that the region is perfect for mountain biking. Many of the region’s hotels in every category have lockable cycle stores and tools; some also offer bike hire.

In the N 2000 area only the trails which are open and signposted may be used by mountain bikers - as is customary elsewhere. The time frame in the N 2000 area is from 7.00 to 20.00 hrs. In the Silbertal valley the mountain bike trails may be used from 16 June to 15 September in the time frame from 7.00 to 20.00 hrs.
